| The sandwich toaster |
![]() My friend Yngve has just bought himself a sandwich toaster. He is a very successful freelance scriptwriter and composer and he lives by himself in a small flat full of computers, stereos, synthesizers and computer games. Usually he wakes up around two in the afternoon, works all through the afternoon and into the night and goes to sleep early in the morning. After a week like this he is totally out of synch with the rest of Stockholm. He eats his dinner in the middle of the night. I have given him a schedule to put up on his refrigerator; when to get up in the morning and what time he should go to bed and what time he should eat. I have tried to get him to take a walk in the morning before breakfast. His mother is also worried and has given him a schedule for his food and what different things he should try to eat every day to get healthy. But now, since he has bought himself a sandwich toaster he has not given his schedules another thought. He eats the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When he fixes his dinner at 03.00 in the morning it doesn't take long and he can do it almost without leaving his computer. But, he is a genius of course and these things will probably just be picturesque notes when somebody writes his biography. Read more Yngve poems |
