| The Polish deli |
I haven't been there for over a year. The owner isreally grumpy and never smiles but he has a wonderful Polish apple cake. I came in around noon today and he greeted me and wanted me to taste some sausages and he was joking with me and the other customers and he talked me into buying some ham and sausages - I was there for the Apfelstrudel but there was none left. He was really loud and started to talk about politics and the reason why he, who has a University degree in Business Administration, is selling sausage and the whole collapse of the Swedish system and how our Prime Minister surrounds himself with people that are not qualified for their jobs - just to make the Prime Minister look good. I realized he had been drinking and I could smell the Slivovitz on his breath. He did not want me to leave, he wanted to discuss everything. He had solutions to every problem here in Sweden and when he started talking about Poland and the level of taxes on liquor there, I made a move for the door. When I rushed out he shouted after me: - Will you come back? Sure. I love the Apfelstrudel. |
