Old and new songs

My wife's standard comment when she hears a new hit
song on the radio is that it reminds her of another song.

I argue that if you listen one more time to the song it
will have its own qualities and it's fashionable to use
licks and hooks from old songs. Remember Mozart was
inspired by many other compositions. And Bach used
known melodies in his works as well.

A lot of my clients are composers but only once have I
been involved in a proper dispute regarding a song.

And the Assessment Committee voted in our favor; my
client's song was not stolen from someone else's song.

I am glad my wife was not on that Committee.
